Hybrid Golf Clubs
Hybrid golf clubs are being used by more golfers every day. The reason for this increase in popularity is that these hybrid clubs are generally easier to hit than fairway woods or long irons. The hybrid golf club is kind of a combination of an iron and a wood. Hybrids take the best design concepts of both the irons and the woods and combine them into one unique, and much easier to hit, golf club. There are two basic types of hybrid golf clubs, the utility club, and the iron-wood.
Utility Club
The utility club is the replacement club for long irons and fairway woods. Utility clubs are designed with a low profile clubface that helps to generate a higher launch angle without sacrificing any distance. The utility club can be used off the tee, from the fairway, or out of the rough and outher poor lies because the shape of the clubhead and sole are designed not to get caught in long grass or to take big divots. Hybrid utility clubs have lofts ranging from 160 to 250 and can replace fairway woods and long irons (irons numbered 3, 4, or 5). The hybrid utility clubs low center of gravity, smaller clubhead, and lower profile make them easier clubs to hit consistently well.
Iron-Wood
The iron-woods are replacement clubs for normal irons. These clubs are engineered much the same as the hybrid utility clubs, with a low center of gravity and smaller clubhead. The iron-woods usually have a hollow clubhead and are back weighted to help generate maximum launch angle and distance. Iron-woods come in progressively higher lofts and taller clubfaces to replace each iron and wedge in your golf bag. The hybrid iron-woods allow you to play a whole set of hybrid clubs, giving you the ability and confidence to make good quality golf shots each and every time.
